Chris McGachy’s award-winning career spans 30 years as a journalist, photographer and magazine editor covering work in national newspapers, sports photography, senior management in government communications and most recently an industry spokesman in the optical sector.
Passionate all-round communicator
A passionate, communications all-rounder, Chris started out as a journalist at a national news agency in Scotland, then worked as a Press Office in Whitehall before establishing himself a freelance career as a magazine editor, producing titles in the tourism, health, industry and lifestyle sectors.
Following early retirement in May 2019, he continues to work with words and photography as a travel writer under the Globe Trotsky blog brand.

Experienced international sports photographer
Chris has worked as a top-flight sports photographer covering UEFA and FIFA competitions including Champions League and European International Finals. He is a regular photographer at English Premier League games and has photographed both English and Scottish Cup finals throughout his career.
He has worked as an accredited photographer for many international picture agencies with photographic credits worldwide. Photographing the UEFA European Championships in Austria and Switzerland, he covered 17 games in eight cities over four weeks including both semis and the final.

Through his freelance agency, Dropcapz Communications, Chris is also for hire as an editorial consultant helping businesses and organisations improve their strategic communications and messaging.
